And so it begins…

…hunting season.
September 1st marks the start of bear hunting season- which essentially kicks off the start of one of my most favorite (and busy) times of the year! My husband is a guide for North Shore Outdoors and today is the first day of bringing out the hunters to their stands in hopes of bagging a black bear. The owner of North Shore Outdoors has been guiding since the mid-1970s and has a great reputation- and great group of guides, including my brother who has been at it for the past 10 years. So if you’re looking for a Northeastern Minnesota guided bear hunt, deer hunt, or Charter/Inland fishing experience, I would strongly suggest North Shore Outdoors.
Unfortunately, I did not draw a tag this year. But that’s okay- there’s always next year. I recently got my first bow for Mother’s Day and after finally getting it sighted in, I’m getting ready to go deer hunting in just a couple of weeks. It will be my first deer hunt with a bow, so it should be interesting…
I really wanted to leave off with a good bear picture caught on one of the game cams, but for the life of me, I cannot seem to locate the folder on my computer. I have only this one…
You get the idea. I’m hoping that one of the guys gets the bear that took out my chicken run a few weeks back. Nothing like losing $75 worth of fencing over night!
Hope you’re having a great weekend 🙂

  1. I love reading about the things that happen on your side of the world…so different to where we live! The worse we get are snakes and even that I can’t handle especially since having the kids. Look forward to seeing more and reading more of your stories :)x

  2. So much fun! I’ve never had bear but I feel the same way about elk… if you don’t like it you need me to cook it for you 😉 We are raising two lambs this summer for meat and I’ve also never eaten lamb before, so I hope it’s in the same category – if it’s cooked well it’s tasty 🙂 We shall see! Great blog… can’t wait to hear more! Melissa

  3. Wow, now that is a big tush! I’m not a hunter, so seeing a bear’s rear end calmly walking away from me, would be a good thing!
Even so, as a carnivore, I wouldn’t be foolish enough to turn down the opportunity of eating bear meat prepared by someone who knows what they are doing.
I hope you bag a nice dear with that bow!

    Heather
